ALHFA- Debt Reduction

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, Living Waters embarked upon a twelve-month debt reduction campaign.

In our 2019 capital campaign for the building and parking lot extension, called “A Living Hope for All,” we supported our vision of Living Waters Lutheran Church as a place of welcome and grace for all of God’s beloved children.

Through that campaign, we consolidated all building debt into a single mortgage that included finances for the expanded building and parking lot and that has a rate adjustment coming in November, 2027.  Since the mortgage consolidation, we have had an ongoing debt reduction effort that has already reduced our time to maturity by 3.5 years and has saved us approximately $100,000 in interest expense.

In partnership with our Synod through its Congregational Debt Reduction Fund, we have faith that we can meaningfully reduce our mortgage debt much further to move forward the day when we will devote more of our financial gifts to God’s Work and to proclaiming “A Living Hope for All."

New Jersey Synod Congregational Debt Reduction Campaign

Our Synod is providing a one-time opportunity for a matching capital grant program which may provide matching funds up to $2 for every $1 raised by a congregation for debt reduction.  Capital amounts will be matched after the congregation’s raised funds are paid to the mortgage lender and proof of such payment is submitted to the Matching Grant Committee.

Benefits

Every dollar raised and matched reduces our debt to provide for our long-term sustainability by shortening the mortgage period and possibly reducing our monthly payment.

The sooner we reduce our debt, the sooner the funds that currently go to our mortgage can go towards our ministries.

It is a declaration of our faith in the future of Living Waters.

How can you help?

You can commit to supporting “A Living Hope for All” spiritually and/or financially. All prayers and gifts, no matter the size, are blessings and make a difference as we look to the future of our ministry.

Please complete and return a commitment card (found at the bottom of this page) by Intention Sunday, September 20, 2026. A fillable card is also available that you can complete by computer and email to tlwelsh49@gmail.com.  All pledges are kept confidential.

Pledge period: August 23 to September 20 (ALHFA Intention Sunday).

Giving period: now through August 23, 2027

You can give weekly, monthly, as frequently as you like, or with a one-time gift. And we will always accept prayers of support.

We are grateful to God and to the congregation for the generosity already shown. The support for “A Living Hope for All" is already over halfway to our goal.

Please watch and listen for more discussion on this opportunity.
